SPRAY TAN POST & AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

POSTCARE

Hair removal: Body waxing, shaving or any other form of hair removal should be done before your spay tan.  Please do not use razors with moisturizing strips as they cause an uneven tan.

Exfoliate your skin from head to toe thoroughly with a loofah or oil free sugar scrub at least 24 hours before your service. Pay special attention to elbows, knees and areas of the body that tend to dry out. By removing dead skin cells, your spray tan will last longer.  Our natural ayate fiber exfoliating cloths get the job done.

Skin prep: No lotions, oils, deodorants, perfumes or make up before your appointment.  Your skin should be free and clear of any substance that could act as a barrier to the tanning solution.

Wear dark loose clothing (sundress or baggy cotton pants) and flip flops after your appointment.  No jeans or tight yoga/workout clothing.  If it’s raining, carry an umbrella to avoid getting wet.  You do not want the cosmetic bronzer to rub off and stain your clothing or the seats of your car.  Don’t wear clothing that will cause your body to perspire.

During your service: Bring chap stick, a dark colored bathing suit and tie your hair back. If you prefer not to have tan lines, then you can remove your bra during your spray tan.

Special occasions:  If you are planning to get a spray tan for a wedding or other special occasion, we suggest you come in for a trial spray tan, three weeks before your special event.  This allows us to see how your tan will develop and ensure you will be happy with the end result.  Since our solutions contain cosmetic bronzers we suggest getting spray tanned two days before your event so that the bronzer does not stain your dress due to perspiring.

Other beauty/spa appointments: facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing, threading and massages must be scheduled before your spray tan session.

Sensitive skin:  If you have sensitive skin, we’d be happy to do a patch test to ensure you do not have an allergic reaction.

AFTERCARE
  • No showering for 6-12 hours.  This allows your spray tan to fully develop. The longer the solution stays on your skin, the darker you will be.

  • Avoid getting wet--no sweating, swimming or showering.  This keeps the color even and consistent.

  • After the 6-12 hour waiting period, DO shower before hitting the gym or working out.

  • If you sleep in your tan, you may want to use dark colored sheets so that the cosmetic bronzer does not cause visible staining.

  • Do not wait more than 24 hours before showering after a spray tan.

  • To achieve and maintain your tan, moisturize 24 hours after your spray tan.  Continue to moisturize twice daily using a body lotion free from mineral oil.  true sells a nice assortment of post spray tan body care products.

  • After showering, pat your skin dry instead of rubbing.  Rubbing excelerates exfoliation which will make your tan fade faster.

  • No exfoliating.  Use a gentle shower gel and soft smooth wash cloth for bathing.

  • If you want to prolong your tan, apply a tan extending lotion.

  • Swimming in chlorinated water or sitting in hot tubs will accelerate fading of your spray tan.
