How to Take the Sting Out of Waxing

The first time you wax is the hardest for a number of reasons such as fear of the unknown and thicker coarse hair. But with regular maintenance every 4-6 weeks, your skin will aclimate to waxing and you'll experience better results.

The following are a few tips to take the sting out of waxing:

  • If you have sensitive skin, exfoliate the area to loosen up dead skin cells and free up the hair follicles.

  • Take Advil 30 min before your scheduled appointment time.

  • Drink plenty of water. Hydrated skin is more supple.

  • Ask your esthetician to apply a topical anesthetic before your services. This numbs the area safely.

  • Breathe and chat it up with your esthetician. This helps to takes your mind off the task at hand.

  • Ask your esthetician to apply pressure immediately after removing the wax or sugaring paste.

  • Lastly, come every 4-6 weeks for maintenance. If you wait too long, it's like starting over again.

While 99% of the men and women who come see us, for waxing in our Walnut Creek salon, don't need to do the steps above, we do have a handful who are not as pain tolerant. That's okay because you're in good hands. By following these steps, you will experience happy hairlessness.

Cheers,

Tami
