How to Take the Sting Out of Waxing
The first time you wax is the hardest for a number of reasons such as fear of the unknown and thicker coarse hair. But with regular maintenance every 4-6 weeks, your skin will aclimate to waxing and you'll experience better results.
The following are a few tips to take the sting out of waxing:
If you have sensitive skin, exfoliate the area to loosen up dead skin cells and free up the hair follicles.
Take Advil 30 min before your scheduled appointment time.
Drink plenty of water. Hydrated skin is more supple.
Ask your esthetician to apply a topical anesthetic before your services. This numbs the area safely.
Breathe and chat it up with your esthetician. This helps to takes your mind off the task at hand.
Ask your esthetician to apply pressure immediately after removing the wax or sugaring paste.
Lastly, come every 4-6 weeks for maintenance. If you wait too long, it's like starting over again.
While 99% of the men and women who come see us, for waxing in our Walnut Creek salon, don't need to do the steps above, we do have a handful who are not as pain tolerant. That's okay because you're in good hands. By following these steps, you will experience happy hairlessness.
